‘I don't want to be afraid,
I don't want to fear the storm
just because I hear it roar'
Lyrics from ‘Peace be still' by Hope Darst
Feel hope and peace from the mountains of Fiordland
Peace Be Still is a fresh and hope filled large original watercolour created from a deep place of knowing during a time of uncertainty.
Sometimes I don’t paint for months. But when I return to my brushes I create something exquisite and something that is infinitely superior to the last artwork I created. This artwork is one of those exquisite creations.
Spring always feels like such a renewed energy to me.
But this season was different. I felt scared and unsure and there was little sense of optimism that usually comes with the lighter and warmer days.
But why was I fighting against the unknown? So many things felt uncertain to me, the world and all the things that are so out of our control currently as well as my inner world was swirling with the uncertainty of business and family. But within in all of this turbulence I felt a grounded feeling within that anchored peace and stillness in my heart. I was reminded that all will be ok, thats everything works out in the end and that peace was something I would not let go of.
It wasn't until I decluttered my studio and moved it to my dining area that I felt hope rise up within me again.
It was the hope and fresh start that spring normally offers that I needed. Then I became engulfed in a beautiful and passionate creative storm with no sign of chaos or turbulence that a regular storm contains. I had a strong knowing to let the peace I felt from creating become my anchor. This was to be my strength. So as a I painted I listened over and over to this song 'Peace be still' by Hope Darst and I knew thats what I had to name the title of this painting.
If you need some hope or a little peace then you'll find it within these paintings.
