What dreams are made of - a large framed original painting

What are your inspired dreams made of? Do you feel exhilarated when you experience them? Do you then feel like it all could just be possible?
My dreams are often about feeling so aligned in my creative practice that I create paintings that are unlike anything I have created before.

Some paintings are effortless and flow out of me so beautifully that I’m in awe of the process of their creation. I get completely lost being in this flow state and it feels exhilarating. When this happens I am on a massive high.

This is one of those paintings.

'What dreams are made of' is a sweeping fusion of rural grass and land in tonal browns under a cloudless and clear sky. It is highlighted by the last of the sun casting a beam of light upon a hill.

Inspired by the land surrounding Fallow Ridge Retreat, a new and exquisite boutique accommodation that is a perfect escape for two. If you visit the retreat's website you will see where I received the inspiration from for this painting as it's a stunning location perched high up on the hills of Waikouaiti in Otago.  If you look closely you'll see a Sophie Melville original that I was commissioned to create for them last year.

But it could be any hills, anywhere in the world where the last of the light casts itself across the land and if you’re present you pause and feel it soak in. It's what beautiful dreams are made of.

‘What dreams are made of’ was intentionally created for the Cleveland Art Awards hosted by the Otago Art Society in May of this year. It was lucky enough to be selected from over 400 entires in a two stage selection process and included in the main room on opening night alongside over 100 other artworks from established and emerging artists from around New Zealand.

Now it is available for you to draw your own dream inspiration from and get lost in possibility.
