The 'Expansion' collection has grown and evolved to now include 5 new large paintings which are all like my heart and soul on paper.
Just when I thought I had entered a new dimension of deep heartfelt awareness I find I’ve gone even deeper and true to my creativity its reflected in the most beautiful way through my art. My art grows when I grow. ✨
Sweeping skies where once minimalist and whimsical have now become a dramatic reflection of the depth of the sea and land below. The contrast of light hiding behind darkness parallels life and it's turbulent times that slowly evolve into an uprising and feelings of hope and peace within.
I’ve come to realise that strong emotions are released from me when I paint and also feelings of stress, worry, overwhelm and fear too, but also acceptance, joy, contentment and awareness flow as well. I feel huge elation once I've finished painting, it's as if I've given all my energy to the work while I'm creating and I'm focused only with movement, tones and composition. Painting like this lights me up so much, it feels so pure and honest and so the right thing for me to do to express emotion in a visual way.
I've let my authentic self come to life in this new large painting, I hope you might feel and connect with it.
Inspiration for this work is from my dear artist friend Kelly Shrimpton
from a photo she took at Ohope Beach.
