'Let the beauty of what you love be what you do' Rumi

This is one of my first black and white original watercolours from 2015. It was painted from a place of pure freedom and inspiration with zero expectation for a perfect outcome. I was experimenting with watercolour in black only and felt bold and courageous within my new medium. There was no apprehension in what was or wasn't possible.

Seeing my new found love of the landscapes surrounding my home I would drop my just turned 5 year old daughter (now 14!) at school and look up to the hills and feel comforted by the mountains. This particular mountain is called the Peninsula and it called me every day to paint it. It offered an unexplainable support as I transitioned into a different phase of motherhood. I felt so much awe for this one mountain and went on to paint it many times.

Reflecting on this now after hundreds of originals later I see a message in this for us.

Place trust in yourself and stand firm in it. Allow yourself to be supported. Go further into that one thing that is calling you and let it guide you. Release expectation.
